Born to Be Wild is a pet lodge on Old Mill Road, ten minutes from downtown Anytown. Dogs board and play in supervised groups. Cats get their own quiet wing on the other side of the building. Somebody sleeps here every night of the year.

Fenced woods and pasture, divided into four play yards so dogs are matched by size and temperament, not thrown together.
Overnight staff
A caretaker sleeps on site every night. Both wings get walked at 10pm and again at 2am.
A separate cat wing
Its own entrance, its own air handling, and a door that stays shut. Cats never see or hear the dog side.

What we do
Four services, one front desk.
Book them separately or stack them. Most people add a bath to the last day of a boarding stay so their dog comes home smelling like a dog and not like a kennel.

Two- and three-level condos with a window perch, in a wing that has its own entrance and its own air handling. We handle one cat at a time, so nobody meets a stranger in the hallway.

Dogs join size-matched play groups capped at twelve per handler. Cats get a daycare condo in the quiet wing with a window and a midday visit. Drop off from 7am, pick up by 7pm.

Grooming

Two groomers working in a room with windows. Dogs go on the table after a walk, clean and settled. Cats are groomed by appointment only, in the cat wing, with a break every ten minutes.

This is the whole schedule. Nothing is hidden.
People ask what actually happens between drop-off and pickup. Here it is, hour by hour. The same board hangs in the front hall, and the times on it are the times we keep.
7:00 am
Doors open, breakfast
Meals are the food you sent, portioned the way you wrote it down on the form.
8:30 am
First yard rotation
Small dogs in the orchard yard, big dogs in the pasture. Forty-five minutes.
10:00 am
Rest hour
Everyone back to their suite with fresh water. Puppies nap whether they like it or not.
11:30 am
Second rotation and trail walks
Leashed walks on the mill trail for dogs who would rather not wrestle.
1:00 pm
Quiet time
Lights down in the dog wing. This is when baths and nail trims happen.
3:00 pm
Third rotation
The big one. Sprinklers in summer, leaf piles in autumn, ninety minutes either way.
5:30 pm
Dinner and medications
Every dose is logged and initialled by two people before the bottle goes back in the box.
7:00 pm
Last call outside
A short leg stretch in the small yard, then bed.
10:00 pm
Overnight checks
The caretaker walks both wings at ten, and again at two in the morning.
The cat wing
Cats cannot hear the dogs from here.
The cat wing was built onto the north side of the building in 2016 with its own entrance, its own air handling and a door that stays shut. There is no music, no radio and no dog anywhere in it. Most cats stop hiding by the second morning.

Vaccinations and what to pack
- ▲Dogs: rabies, DHPP and Bordetella, all current within twelve months
- ▲Cats: rabies and FVRCP, current within twelve months
- ▲Your own food. Daily bags help, but a scoop and a bin is fine too
- ▲Medications in the original pharmacy bottle, with the label on
- ▲One thing that smells like home. A worn T-shirt beats a new toy every time

Free, twenty minutes
The meet-and-greet
Every new guest comes in for a short visit before their first overnight. We walk the wings with you, put your dog in a yard with two of our regulars, and watch. It costs nothing and it is not a test — we are only trying to learn how your dog reads other dogs so we put them in the right group on day one.
Cats do the same visit without the yard. We open the carrier in an empty condo and leave the room.

Thanksgiving and the last two weeks of December fill by early autumn every year. Everything else is usually open a week or two out. Send a request and we will confirm by phone the same day.
